CRYING IS CLEANSING.

“Crying is cleansing. There’s a reason for tears, happiness or sadness.” – Dionne Warwick

‘All cried out…exhausted …no more energy….want to sleep and never wake up…’ Have there been any incidents or times in your life when you would have thought this way? Lots of times, would be the answer. What is it that makes you cry to the point of exhaustion? Is it something that only you feel or is it a common problem?

Well, this is not a singular problem at all. Crying in the dark, lying on one’s own bed is a common phenomena. That is one form of catharsis and if it is within limits..(i.e. if you can brush yourself up and get going on with life after this bout)…then it is fine. But if it leads to depression and recovery does not seem possible, for various reasons, then you will need professional help.

Tears are the silent language of grief.” – Voltaire

“No one knows the real me. Nobody knows how many times I’ve cried in my room when no one was watching. No one knows how many times I’ve lost hope, how many times I’ve been let down. Does any one know how many times I’ve felt I’m about to snap?…but I just don’t, for the sake of others. Not a single soul knows the thoughts that go through my head when I’m sad, how horrible they truly are. Nobody knows me.”

Are these words familiar? Do you think the same way? Or maybe something like this..

“Behind my smile is a breaking heart..Over my laugh I’m falling apart…Behind my eyes are tears at night…Behind my body is a soul trying to fight.”

“The most painful tears are not the ones that fall from your eyes and cover your face. It’s the ones that fall from your heart and cover your soul.”

“We need never be ashamed of our tears.” – Charles Dickens

You might find glimpses of yourself in the lines above..the heart overflows with emotions which has to be released. The result of overworked emotion, stress or tension are tears. At that point of time, you cannot think straight, you cannot seem to even pull yourself together. You feel it as though the world is going to end. When these tears are beyond the limit due to excessive crying, the brain signals the body to find some rest. Thus drained and tired after weeping, exhaustion puts you to sleep.

Invisible tears are the hardest to wipe away. Just let it out, my friend.” – Terri Guillemets

Men do not cry or weep this way. Elders instill into them at a very tender age that crying is not manly. So they refrain themselves as much as possible. But in the recesses of the dark night, they too cry. Crying never devalues anyone. Maybe you do not look too good a sight, eyes all puffed up and red, but crying is the best healing for our body, mind and soul. You should never be ashamed of crying. The emotional stress that goes out of you through the flow of tears will be replaced by the body’s natural urge to heal and repair and so within some time, you would have recovered.

Tears are God’s gift to us. Our holy water. They heal us as they flow.” – Rita Schiano

Weeping arises from the heart and signifies an open and softened heart. All these emotions in us need to find a way out to be expressed. We cannot live like as if put in airtight containers. Imagine those who cannot cry even if they want to. They are dry-eyed. No amount of upheavals in their life can make them cry. This is a very precarious condition which could lead to an aftermath of extreme mental illnesses.

So accept your crying as being normal. Do not be disheartened. Get back on tracks. Life is too good to be spent crying in the solace of your room.

Crying over what’s gone won’t find the present.” – Edwin Louis Cole

Whether it is loss of something or someone beloved, a break in relationships, stress, anxiety, fear, insecurity or any other negativity that is invading your mind and making you a wreck, just remember :

There is nothing that Time cannot heal.

Life goes on,come what may. It has to go on.

Life is too precious to waste for lots of reasons. It is precious because there is so little of it. Life is but a vapor, an early morning fog.  Here one moment. Gone the next.

So Live In The Moment. Live Life Happy !
