SELF-WORTH IS WORTH IT.

Losing one’s self-worth – illustrated by a story that most of us can relate to:

Four college friends were out partying one night when they had a class test the next day. Like all other college goers of their age, they really had a good time throughout the night. Not having prepared for the test, they decided to bunk it. They hatched a plan. Covering themselves up with grease, grime and dirt, they went to the Dean’s office  the next day – the day of the test. They explained that they had been to a wedding the previous night and on their way back had had a burst tire. So they had to push the car back to the campus. They wouldn’t be able to take the test, they said.

The Dean listened intently.

He then offered them a re-test three days later on the same topics. The boys were happy. They agreed in unison. They were happy they had three more days to study. The day of the test arrived. The boys went to college, jubilant that they had had enough time to study, They were sure that they would answer the questions well.

For the test, they were made to sit in different rooms. They got their question paper. They strained eagerly to see what was written on it. There were only two questions.

  1. Your Name:                  (1 point )

2. Which tyre burst?:         ( 99 points)

( Options: Front Right/ Front Left/ Back Right/ Back Left )

You can imagine the predicament the boys would have been in. They had lied to the Dean and now unexpectedly, they were caught off-guard.

What happened after that can be left to the vivid imagination of the reader!

Moral of the story here is that -you fib, or rather, tell a lie or white lies just for fun but it could boomerang back on you. If the boys were true to themselves, they would not have played truant or told lies. After all, they were being educated for their own benefit.

They lost their own self-worth in front of the Dean. The losers who learnt their lesson the hard way. The privilege of being educated is for oneself, not for the other. Be true to yourself.

BIBLE VERSE:

We seem to use this phrase ‘By the Grace Of God’ when we are seemingly unsure of the next moment. Rarely do we give God the full credit of being Who We Are or, Who We Have Become. We still hold onto the egotistic power that we wield in our lives.

What is the grace of God?

Simply put, it is God’s favor and kindness toward us. God rains down Grace on all beings. Creation and everything in it is woven so intricately and beautifully that it is one big picture of Grace. He gave us these wonders around us that we may enjoy seeing it each and every day.

In our day-to-day saving Grace encounters, He saves us from many a trouble heading our way. He often brings us to the right path just in time. So many mishaps just miss us. When faced with choices, we have been gifted with a conscience to know right from wrong. All these things are common graces, and everyone born on the earth has the benefit of them because God so loved the world.

On a special and individual note, we know that we live in Grace and only by that Grace. His Promise is that of remaining with us at all times. His Holy Spirit  prompts us as we go through our days. He has said that here on earth we will have many trials and sorrows, but we need never worry as He would never ever leave us. The unknown becomes easier to go through when we have a hand to hold.

That’s grace—the feeling that we are never alone.

Always remember that grace is a gift. We can’t earn it, but we get a lot of it. It’s free and abundant. When we approach Him in heartfelt prayer, He will always give us what we need. Forget about worrying about getting what we deserve. Grace is getting much more than what we deserve.

“ Parents! when your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him?”  (Matthew 7:9-11)

PRAYER:

May each loved one be wrapped in His Grace, Love and Peace.
