Bezos graduated from Princeton University with many offers lined up at his door. Major companies like Intel offered him a position in their company, yet, he chose to work at Fitel, a start-up telecommunications company. There he was to build a network for international trade. This laid the foundations for his dream.
Soon, he became the Head of Development and Director of Customer Service at Fitel. Later, he left the company to join Bankers Trust as a Product Manager till 1990. Then, he joined a hedge fund, D. E. Shaw & Co, where he became the fourth senior vice-president before resigning at the age of 30.
The Founder of Amazon
The Founder, Chairman, CEO, and President of Amazon.com, INC, started with an idea for “the everything store.” His family and friends discouraged Bezos ambition. They believed the world was not ready for something as innovative as the concept of Amazon. But he longed to create a unique platform that stands out from the rest of the world. Yet, he decided to initially kick-off his idea as an online book store. Amazon was, thus, founded and later expanded to a two-bedroom apartment which had three micro-station to ship books.
Amazon hit the markets in 1995 and sold books in 45 countries in a month. Bezos calculation of the growth and potential of the internet hit the bulls-eye. Within a month, they were making $20,000 a week and growing fast. The internet was evolving rapidly and that boosted Amazon to the glory it holds today.
In 1997, Amazon went public as an “everything store”. In a year, beating all records, Amazon Online Shopping made outstanding sales of 1.64 Billion US dollars. And, it has only gone up. Since then, Amazon has connected millions of sellers to billions of buyers. Additionally, they’ve introduced their signature products like the Amazon Kindle which has transformed reading and lifestyle.
The e-commerce wizard, Jeff Bezos, has revolutionized online shopping along with technology. He has introduced to the world a whole new way of life. He built the world’s largest online retailer out of sheer passion and hard work. Now, he’s established a company called Blue Origin which aims to revolutionize mankind!
